Abstract

Photopolymerisable varnishes based on solutions of polvinylesters have as sensitizers (a) at least on thio- or seleno-monomethinecyanine in which the N atoms are substituted with an unsubstituted alkyl residue of 1-5 C atoms, and/or (b) aromatic nitro compound, pref. polynuclear or heterocyclic, such as anthracene, fluorene, diphenyl. The varnishes are stable in storage and need very short irradiation times. They are used in making photochemical materials, printing plates, etc.
