Abstract

Anti-brucellose vaccines based on membranes of bacteria Brucella abortus are prepd. by cultivating a weakened source of Brucella abortus Buch 19, disintegrating the bacteria by crushing, removing lipids from the membranes obtained, treating the membranes with papain and finally collecting the solid fraction and treating it to obtain the vaccine. After treatment with papain the membranes are pref. treated with soln of a surfactant such as a lauryl sulphate or chelate. Pref. the products obtained at each stage of the process are lyophilised. Pref. vaccine contains 500 mg of membrane extract in a suitable vehicle to form a does for immunising cattle.
