Abstract

Vincamine derivs of formula (I): in which A is a bridge -CH-CH2-, CH-CH2- or -C-CH where X is H or an acyl radical, pref. acetyl, have CNS and cardiovascular activity. Cpds. (I) where A is -C=CH may be prepd. by reducing apovincamine, pref using sodium borohydride or lithium aluminium CH2OX hydride, pref. in excess in an organic solvent such as tetrahydrofuran or an alcohol.
