Abstract

Preparation of DELTA2 oxazolines by the following reaction (where M = Li, Na, K, Mg, Zn, Cd). (I) which may be formed in situ is heated with excess carbonyl compound in an inert solvent. The 2-metallo-DELTA2-oxazoline formed is hydrolysed with water, an alcohol or an acid to the desired DELTA2-oxazoline. Some of the products may be used as pharmaceuticals and plant protection agents.
