Abstract

Machine is provided with means for fixing one or two ends of an elongated sample of the material while the sample is subjected to an applied force. The means for fixing at least one end of the sample consists of a shackle with a socket for receiving a thickened end of the sample and for holding this end so as to prevent the withdrawal of, the sample in a lengthwise direction, and means for limiting the lateral movements of the sample relative to the socket when it being tested. The machine is useful for testing tensile strength, modulus and flex resistance, especially of rubbers.
