Abstract

Determination of the state of exhaustion of an ion exchange resin. G6B. By determining the changes in volume of the resin as the concentration of an exchangeable ion thereon alters either in use, as in the purification of water and/or during regeneration. The volume charge is indicated by the height of a column of exchange resin in a vertical container. The process eliminates use of costly analysis equipment and can be used where a visual indicator could not be used.
