Abstract

Tetrazole derivs. (I) R = alkyl (C1-12). (I) have hypolipemic activity and may be used in the treatment of hyperlipemic conditions such as hypercholesterolaemia. Reaction of (II) with an azide, esp an inorganic azide such as sodium-, lithium-, aluminium azide or ammonium azide. Organic azides may be used such as trimethylammonium azide or azides of piperidine or morpholine. Reaction at 80-140 deg.C in solvent such as diethyleneglycolmonomethylether, THF, dimethylformamide, dimethylsulphoxide etc. in the presence of a Lewis acid such as BF3-etherate, tetraalkylammonium chloride, lithium chloride etc.
