Abstract

Plastics containing a blowing agent are granulated by extruding through a nozzle plate the plastified thermoplastics into a chamber supplied with a chilling liquid at a higher pressure compared to atmospheric pressure, chopping by means of rotary cutters the extruded strands upon their emerging into the gas-filled chamber and chilling therein the plastics prior to discharging at an excess pressure.
