Abstract

The process comprises lining water pipes e.g. feed pipes, irrigation pipes, etc. in water with a coating having algicidal activity. Pref. the coatings, applied by sprying contain a hydrocarbon emulsion in aqs. or solvent medium which receives an algicidal agent pref. in the ratio 5-25 wt. %. The emulsion and its addn. prods. (1) are, cationic to facilitate adhesion to the surfaces e.g. bitumen cement etc. (1) are chosen from aliph. amines or their derivs. of gen. formula RNH2 (where R is 8-22C hydrocarbyl).
