A method for lowering of NOx emission in the smoke gases from a soda pan, by use of the strong sulphur-containing gases in the process in the furnace of a soda boiler of a pulp factory. In the method, the malodorous gases are divided into strong malodorous gases which contain a lot of ammonia or small quantities of ammonia, which are fed in at various points of the furnace. <IMAGE>
