Abstract

The invention relates to a drier assembly/drier part in a papermaking machine, comprising a drying module R1, R2, which comprises a blow-dry unit 11, 21 and a large- diameter cylinder/roll 10, 20 connected thereto and situated within a drying wire 14, 31 such that the drying wire 14, 31 bears against the surface of the cylinder/roll 10, 20 at least in the region of a blowing zone 16, 26 of the blow unit 11, 21. The drier assembly/drier part in the papermaking machine is essentially wholly formed by the said drying modules, and the drying modules R1, R2 are situated in two rows such that the paper web W which is dried is arranged to run sinuously in an unbroken line from one drying module R1, R2 to another within the rows. The invention also relates to a process for drying a paper web in a drier part/drier assembly in a papermaking machine, in which process the paper web W is transported supported by a drying wire 14, 31 and in which the web W is evaporation-dried by blow- drying with blowing gas jets 16, 26, which can be directed at the web W, in a blow-drying unit 11, 21, in whose region the web W runs supported by the drying wire 14, 31 on the surface of a large-diameter cylinder or the like 10, 20 whilst the web W is on the outer swing side. The web W is dried in essentially the whole of the drier part or in essentially the whole of the drier assembly by blow-drying with drying modules R1, R2, which are situated in two rows and in which the blow unit 11 in the upper row is situated above the cylinder 10 and in the lower row the blow unit 21 is situated below the cylinder 20, and the web W is conducted from one drying module R1, R2 to another in an unbroken line, from the drying wire 14 in the drying module R1 in the upper row to the drying wire 31 in the drying module R2 in the lower row. <IMAGE>
