Abstract
A wheelchair incorporating a frame 2 and a seat 3, supported on the frame, with associated backrest 4, seat part 5 and footrest 6. The footrest and the seat part are linked by a first horizontal hinge joint 7 and the seat part and the backrest are linked by a second horizontal hinge joint 8; the backrest and the footrest are joined together by the seat part so as to be simultaneously moved by means of a lever mechanism 9; the seat is articulately supported on the frame at the front ends of the seat part and a power unit 10 has been joined to the backrest for lifting the backrest and the seat part from a sitting position into an essentially vertical position for hoisting a person sitting in the chair into an upright, standing position. <IMAGE>
