Abstract

To provide a simple and flexible equipment for data scrambling in a subscriber network based on a point-to-multipoint system, the scrambling sequences of the subscribers currently corresponding to the time slots of the transmission frame of a signal to be transmitted to subscriber terminals are stored in the central unit of the network, in RAM 61, and the scrambling sequence of a subscriber corresponding to the current time slot of the transmission frame is read to the scrambling means 67 located in the central unit to scramble the subscriber data by the subscriber's own scrambling sequence. The invention also relates to descrambling implemented in similar manner, using descrambling means 65. <IMAGE>
