Abstract

A heating furnace for heating a porous preform, when the preform is manufactured from the coarse-based fine glass particles of the optical fibre, which heating furnace possesses a heating element and a faucet pipe which is located inside the heating element for the purpose of separating the heating air circuit from the heating element, characterised in that the shell of the faucet pipe is manufactured from extremely pure carbon and the inner and outer walls are lined with carbon material which is selected from a group which includes pyrolytic graphite and solid, carbonated vitreous carbon.
