Abstract

The subject of the invention is an optical process for determining the three-dimensional shape of a body. Current processes are complicated and expensive. In the process according to the invention, light-diffusing material 1 is placed on the other side of the measuring point of the cross profile of the body 3, a sweeping laser beam 10 is used to form therein a light source 9, which light source moves in that direction of the cross profile which is to be measured, and on the other side of the body a plurality of measuring instruments 6, 7, 8 are placed in a corresponding manner on the desired cross profile plane, which measuring instruments are used to observe the movable light source 9. A termination of an observation of the light source, which is effected in the measuring instrument 6, 7, 8, or a newly occurring observation, signifies a tangential cross profile point of the body 3, the cross profile of the body, when the place of the light source as a function of the time is known, being constructed with the aid of the cross profile points. When the body 3 is moved relative to the instruments in the other direction in the measurement of cross profiles, successive profiles are used to determine the three-dimensional contour dimension image of the body. <IMAGE>
