Abstract

The invention describes an EEG electrode and apparatus thereof, making it possible to achieve a quick and efficient electrical contact with the scalp especially in multichannel systems. The contact between the electrode and skin 6 is provided via an electrolytically moistened end point 4, which is made from porous material. The electrolytic solution flows into the end point 4 either by capillary action or through pressure. The fine tip 5 of the electrode pushes easily through hair. The electrode is secured to the skin 6 by the means of a fastening arrangement. The contact impedance between the electrode and skin 6 or the transmission function of the recording channel is measurable before or during EEG recording. Distortions to the recording signal caused by high and/or inter-varying impedance are taken into account either by calculation or by using electronic means. <IMAGE>
