Abstract
A process for feeding a pulverulent raw material, such as aluminium oxide, into an aluminium electrolysis by making use of an oscillating feeding device 5. The raw material is introduced into a guide box 7, which is placed in contact with the surface of the electrolyte smelt 9. Mechanical vibration V is directed towards the feeding device 5 which has been placed in the said guide box 7. The vertical amplitude of this vibration is selected within the range 0.5...1.5 cm. The frequency of the vibrations is selected within the range 1...40 Hz. The raw material is fed continuously, using the said feeding device 5, via an opening 9 in an electrolyte crust 8 which is formed around the guide box 7. <IMAGE>
