Abstract

The invention concerns a container in which minerals, such as copper, are cleaned in an electrolytic process. The container includes base 12, ends 15, 16 and sides 13,14 for enclosing a corrosive electrolyte such as a hydrogen sulphide or hydrochloric acid solution. The base 12, ends 15,16 and sides 13,14 of the container are made of a hardened mixture which includes 10 - 19 percent modified, heat-hardened polyvinyl ester resin or polyester resin, and the remainder which includes crystalline silica of the order of size 6.35 - 0.40 mm, fine quartz sand or siliceous flux and glass balls of the order of size of approx. 4 microns, and/or mica flakes of the order of size of approx. 0.4 mm or chopped glass fibre strands of the order of size of 6.35 - 3.18 mm. The container is fabricated using a continuous casting process which includes non-conductive reinforcement rods. <IMAGE>
