Abstract

The invention concerns methods and devices for suppressing external noise which reaches the eardrum and at the same time for making possible electro-acoustic communication. A device according to the invention comprises a passive sound suppresser around each ear which delimits a cavity 10. It comprises in addition an active sound suppresser consisting of a loudspeaker 6 placed inside the cavity 1 and a microphone 8 placed in the auditory canal or at its entrance, which are connected together by an amplifier with a constant amplification 11 and an active analogue filter 12 of polynomial type, the passive components of which are calculated so that it carries out a particular transmission function. An application consists of the manufacture of a sound-suppressing helmet fitted with a built-in loudspeaker which makes possible electro-acoustic communication. <IMAGE>
