Abstract

The invention concerns a headbox for a paper machine and includes an upper plate 8 and a lower plate 9, which between them define a chamber, and a number of flow limiting elements 7 that are placed above each other in the chamber to define a number of paths lying above each other at mutual spacing. The upper and lower plates 8, 9 are connected in one end to a perforated plate 10 which defines an inlet to the chamber and they approach each other on the way to an outlet from the chamber. Each element 7 is releasably connected in one end to the perforated plate 10 and the paths extend from the inlet to the outlet. The known flow-limiting elements are difficult to produce because of their large thickness variations and also because they easily turn in the disk direction. To solve these problem the structure of each flow limiting element 7 according to the invention has a slightly corrugated upper surface and a slightly corrugated lower surface that approach each other until they close in a free end away from perforated plate 10. These surfaces are essentially symmetric to each other relative to a center line on said element 7. Each element 7 has a free end part which is formed from a readily deformable material, like rubber or plastic. The surfaces of each element define between them an angle of 1-15 degrees. <IMAGE>
