Description

MODULAR ROOM UNIT AND WALL UNIT
FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a modular room unit and more particularly to a modular room unit according to preamble of claim 1. The present invention further relates to a wall unit and more particularly to a wall unit according to preamble of claim 11.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Modular room units are commonly known pre-manufactured modules which may be assembled and installed as separate ready-made units into buildings. The modular room unit may be for example bathroom modules or kitchen modules or the like room modules defining a room space. The modular room units comprise a base slab for providing a floor structure for the modular room unit. The modular room unit further comprises walls which are supported to the base slab. The walls define the room space or rom spaces of the modular room unit. The modular room — unit may also comprise top structure for providing a ceiling structure for the modular room unit. The modular room unit is separate unit or entity which may be installed into a building such that it defines a room space in the building. The walls of the modular room unit may be formed as wall units or wall elements which are pre-manufactured elements. These wall units are supported to — the base slab or on the base slab and secured to the base slab. The base slab may be concrete slab made for the modular room unit. The modular room unit may be supported to the building such that that modular room unit is supported to a floor structure of the building from the base slab. The floor structure of the building may D comprise opening for receiving the modular room unit and the modular room unit S 25 may be supported to the opening or to the edges of the opening of the floor S structure. — The modular room units are typically pre-manufactured wet rooms or spaces such as bathrooms, toilets or the like. These modular rooms comprise a & waterproofing in the floor structure and in the walls for preventing moisture O 30 entering the structures of the modular room unit. Conventionally, the 3 waterproofing is a separate waterproofing layer provided on the inner wall = surfaces and on the floor of the modular room unit. N One of the problems associated with the prior artis that when fixtures or the like fixedly installed elements, such as sink assemblies or cupboards or closets, are mounted and attached to the walls of the modular room unit, thewaterproofing is broken. Mounting the fixtures usually is one of the latest steps in manufacturing the modular room unit and this causes that the waterproofing is penetrated in uncontrolled manner with screws or the like securing members. Furthermore, when the fixtures are removed and replaced with new fixture during renovating the interior of the modular room unit, the waterproofing is broken again and penetrated in new locations. Accordingly, reliability and operation of the waterproofing of the modular room unit is compromised. This may lead to deterioration of the whole modular room unit. This especially severe as the modular room unit is manufactured as one entity, and water or moisture damages lead to deterioration of the whole modular room unit. Due to the single entity structure of the modular room unit, the moisture or water damages may be impossible to repair. Thus, the modular room unit should be replaced which is in most cases practically impossible without making a large opening to the building. — BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a modular room unit and a wall unit such that the disadvantages of the prior art are solved or at least alleviated.
