The hot rolled medium carbon steel product containing Fe, unavoidable impurities and residual contents, contains in terms of percentages of mass, at least the following C 0.3 to 0.7 %, Si 0.05 to 2.0 %,Mn 0.2 to 2.0 %, Cr 0.5 to 3.0 %, V less than 1.0 %, Ni 1.0 to 6.0 %, Mo less than 1.0 %, wherein, in terms of percentages of mass, C + Ni + Cr + Mo is 2.8 to 5.5 %.
