Description
A carrier for a portable electronic device Technical field This specification relates to a carrier for a portable electronic device.
Some aspects of the specification relate to a carrier for a portable electronic device, which carrier may be used for heating the portable electronic device for example in arctic conditions.
Background Portable electronic devices typically suffer from operational defects in cold weather.
Exposure to cold temperatures may cause for example problems to the device's battery, such that its ability to supply power to the device is affected.
Further, the electronics and the display screen may be affected by cold temperatures to a point that the electronic device is shutting itself down while being used in cold weather.
Under extremely cold conditions, it may be necessary to utilize a user's body heat in order to keep the device in working order.
In that case, the device has to be placed under at least the user's outer clothing, in a direct or close contact to the user's body.
Summary The above disclosed problems may be addressed by providing a carrier for a — portable electronic device, within which carrier the portable electronic device = may be heated or at least kept warm under cold conditions.
An advantage is N that the portable electronic device may be kept in working order under severe 3 conditions, such as low temperatures.
Heating or at least keeping warm the 2 portable electronic device allows the battery of the device to maintain its ability I 30 to supply power to the device and to receive power when loaded.
As the carrier N comprises means for heating the device, it is not necessary to utilize the user's Q body for keeping the device warm.
Thus, heat losses by the body of the user o caused by the actions taken when the device needs to be used are diminished.
N Moreover, for devices that need to be used every now and then, the disclosure — provides a carrier, which enables the portable electronic device to be easily reachable when needed.
Yet another advantage of the carrier according to the disclosure is that besides a holder for the portable electronic device, it also comprises a holder for a battery. When in use, the battery may provide electrical energy to a heating resistor adapted to heat both the portable electronic device as well as the battery itself. Moreover, the battery may serve as a standby battery providing electrical energy to the portable electronic device. Therefore, there is provided a carrier for a portable electronic device, wherein the carrier comprises - afirst holder adapted to receive the portable electronic device, - a second holder adapted to receive a battery, - a heating resistor adapted to heat the portable electronic device and/or the battery, and - electrical wires adapted to supply electrical energy provided by the battery to the portable electronic device and/or the heating resistor. The carrier is a carrier strap comprising a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end, and the carrier strap is adapted to be attachable on a shoulder of a user such that the first longitudinal end of the carrier strap and the second longitudinal end of the carrier strap are placeable on opposite sides of a torso of the user. Objects according to this disclosure are further described in the appended claims.
