Abstract

The invention covers a shelf-ready packaging (1) and a method for forming it. The invention relates to a product shelf package as set forth in the preamble of claim 1 and a method for forming a product shelf package as set forth in the preamble of claim 5.

The shelf packaging according to the invention preferably relates to an easy-to-use custom-made store shelf packaging made of cardboard or cardboard for packaging and displaying various products.

According to the prior art, shelving packages are made, for example, by folding a box having perforated, i.e., perforated, tear-off sides on the articles from the box blank to reveal the products on the package. The above-mentioned packaging technique is called wraparound technique. The problem with these solutions is the inaccuracy and unreliability of the perforation. Tearing open the package may cause the package to tear in the wrong place, causing the products not to come out of the package as planned, being dropped or difficult to remove. The tear point may also be sharp and sometimes damage the hand of the handler or the customer of the shop. The opened package may also be unclean if the perforation ruptures at the wrong location. In addition, opening perforated shelf packs requires physical manual effort and is time consuming to open.

According to another known technique, the articles are placed on their edges on a folded tray and the articles are placed on the bottom with the actual carrying box. The object of the present invention is to eliminate the aforementioned drawbacks and to provide a shelf package which can be opened quickly, easily and safely. It is also an object to provide a shelving package with an easily accessible information tray about product features. It is a further object of the invention to provide an easy as well as cost effective method of forming a shelf packaging for products. The product shelf package according to the invention is characterized by what is set forth in the characterizing part of claim 1. Correspondingly, the method according to the invention is characterized by what is stated in the characterizing part of claim 5. Other embodiments of the invention are characterized by what is set forth in the other claims.

Advantageously, in the solution of the invention, the body of the shelf package is formed by a box forming apparatus to correspond to the dimensions of the product package lot. The opening side or sides of the package, such as the lid and one end, are properly positioned and secured to the body of the package by means of an attachment such as adhesive paper or tape. On the adhesive side of the adhesive paper or tape is integrated an adhesive paper or tape longitudinal tear element, such as a tear strip which, when opening a shelf, tears the seam made with adhesive paper or tape to open the shelf between the shelf body and the openable sides.

An advantage of the solution according to the invention is, inter alia, that the sides of the shelf package can be opened easily, lightly and quickly by means of tear strips. The opening time is up to half as much as the shelf packs currently in use. The tear strips reliably open the package from the right and prevent the package body from accidentally tearing. What's more, the opening is clean and safe as it has no sharp edges. It is also an advantage that the packaging material is almost minimal, since there is very little overlapping of the packaging surfaces, which means that the material costs of the packaging are low. The shelving package according to the invention is folded so as to achieve the best possible carrying capacity with a minimum amount of material. A further advantage is that the used packages are easily, easily and quickly opened into a single sheet for recycling. Another advantageous embodiment also has the advantage that the end of the package or the lower part of the end can be pivoted down so that product information can be provided on the inner surface of the pivoted part, for example in the form of printed text and / or images.

The packaging body 2 and the opening part 3 are joined together by means of fastening means 4, such as tape or adhesive paper. The fastening means 4 can also be a paper tape to which a tear tape 5 is attached and which paper tape and tear tape 5 are glued, for example, by hot gluing to the packaging body 2 and the opening part 3 upon closure of the shelf package 1. In the above example, the adhesive may be attached to either a paper tape or a package. The tear strips 5 are fixed longitudinally to the adhesive surface of the fastening device 4, for example substantially to the center line of the fastening device. The tear strips 5 could also be secured to each side of the opening portion 3 near the outer edge so that they remain under the fastening means 4 when the shelf package 1 is closed.
