Description

BIG BAG Technical field
Generally, the invention relates to a big bag for a refuse container. More specifical-5 ly, the invention relates to a watertight big bag for a refuse container.
Background technology
Domestic households have been taught to sort their garbage e.g. organic, paper, metal and glass waste from the other waste. In urban and suburban areas, the sorted 10 waste is usually collected into large containers, the emptying of which is normally provided by municipality or outsourced private companies. It is advantageous to collect organic waste into large, semi or fully underground containers, because the emptying can thus be performed more rarely. Also the unpleasant odor of the organic waste may disturb less the surroundings, because the waste can lie below the 15 ground level, which normally has lower temperature than surroundings above the ground level, even in summer time.
The emptying process of semi or fully underground refuse containers for organic waste comprises problems, because the container is normally fixed to its place. Prior art knows solutions such as hard plastic containers used as a removable inner 20 container, which can be emptied.
Unfortunately, those hard plastic containers are expensive to manufacture and can
CO
£ be difficult to use. In addition, they are usually not watertight, which causes prob- ™ lems. Liquid contained in organic waste can leak from the plastic container into the 9 bottom of the refuse container, which liquid eventually begin to stink and, if the cm 25 ambient temperature is below zero degrees, can freeze the hard plastic container
En into the bottom of the refuse container. This may cause the hard plastic container to break when lifted from the refuse container and the contents of it to fall into the re- ^ fuse container. This causes a burdensome and time consuming cleaning process of ™ the organic waste container and the hard plastic container has to be replaced, which o ^ 30 naturally causes extra costs.
2
Summary of the invention
It is an object of the present invention to implement such a solution, that previously mentioned drawbacks of the prior art could be diminished. In particular, the invention is implied to solve how to arrange a durable, cost efficient and a leak proof or-5 ganic waste collection for a refuse container and how to perform the emptying process of the refuse container.
The objective of the invention is met by the features disclosed in the independent patent claims.
The big bag according to the present invention is characterized by the features of 10 claim 1.
The method for emptying the big bag according to the present invention is characterized by the features of claim 9.
According to an embodiment of the invention, a big bag for a refuse container comprises an outer sack having an open top part and a closable/openable bottom part, an 15 inner sack disposed into the outer sack having an open top part, and means for clos-ing/opening the bottom part of the outer sack. The inner sack comprises an extension section, which extends below the bottom part of the outer sack so that the bottom part of the inner sack is attachable to the big bag.
In another embodiment, the big bag according to the present invention further com-20 prises means for releasing the attached bottom part of the inner sack from the big bag.
„ Yet, in another embodiment, the bottom part of the inner sack is attached to a level o in an outer surface of the outer sack having a distance from the bottom part of the co outer sack.
0 c\i 25 In one embodiment, the bottom part of the inner sack is closable/openable, and in 1 another embodiment, the big bag further comprises means for closing/opening the (jj bottom part of the inner sack. This feature is advantageous for improving the leak ” proof of the big bag.
CNJ
^ In one embodiment, the length of the extension part is at least 1,5 m. This length of 30 the extension part enables the attachment of the bottom part of the inner sack to a level in the big bag, which is high enough so that liquid in the big bag does not rise above that level.
3
Some preferable embodiments of the invention are described in the dependent claims.
Significant advantages can be achieved with the present invention when compared to the prior art solutions. The big bag according to the present invention is inexpen-5 sive, durable and reliable. In addition, it is easily modifiable for deep refuse containers in different sizes and volumes. The manufacturing of the big bag according to the present invention is simple and using of the big bag is easy.
Furthermore, the big bag may be leak proof and it can be used in all kinds of refuse containers having adequate volume, such as deep refuse container, which can be 10 semi or underground container. The big bag is suitable for organic waste, but it can also be used for all other waste types, especially waste that comprises liquids.

ώ Detailed description of the embodiments ci Fig. 1 illustrates a big bag according to an embodiment of the present invention in I an open state and fig. 2 in a closed state. The big bag 100 comprises an outer sack ^ 25 102 having an open top part 104 and a closable/openable bottom part 106, an inner J sack 108 having an open top part (not shown), and means for closing/opening 110 the bottom part 106 of the outer sack. In embodiment depicted in Fig. 1, the inner 00 sack 108 also comprises means for closing/opening 112 the bottom part 114 of the inner sack 108. The inner sack 108 comprises an extension section 116 extending 4 below the bottom part 106 of the outer sack so that the bottom part 114 of the inner sack can be attached to the big bag.
The inner sack 108 is disposed into the outer sack 102 and at least partly attached to the outer sack. In one embodiment, the open top part of the inner sack 108 is at-5 tached to the open top part 104 of the outer sack 102. In another embodiment, the side seam(s) of the outer sack 102 and the side seam(s) of the inner sack 108 are at least partly attached to each other, too. This can be performed by pressing the seams together, when manufacturing the big bag.
The outer sack 102 is preferably made of some durable and inexpensive material, 10 such as polypropylene, and the inner sack 108 is preferably made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). A person skilled in the art knows that some other suitable materials can also be used. The outer sack made of polypropylene provides also required stiffness and cover to the big bag. The inner sack made of PVC is more flexible allowing the folding of the extension section.
15 The volume of the outer sack can vary depending on the refuse container it is meant to, but preferably the volume of the outer sack is e.g. 1-6 m3, more preferably e.g. 3-5 m3.
In one embodiment, the big bag 100 further comprises means for releasing 118 the attached bottom part 114 of the inner sack from the big bag 100. The means for at-20 taching and releasing 118 the bottom part 114 of the inner sack to and from the big bag 100 can be any suitable means, such as a hook attached to the bottom part 114 and a loop attached to the big bag 100, or vice versa. In one embodiment, the bottom parti 14 of the inner sack is attached to outer surface of the outer sack 102, but (V) the attachment of the bottom part 114 of the inner sack can be arranged in some o 25 other way. Preferably, the attaching means are arranged to be remotely opened, e.g.
oo by using some quick-release fastener.
0 c\l The big bag according to the present invention is disposed into the refuse container 1 in its closed state, as depicted in Fig. 2, so that the bottom 106 of the outer sack is jjj against the bottom of the refuse container. The meaning of the extension section 30 116 of the inner sack 108 is to enable the attachment of the bottom part 114 of the ^ inner sack in a higher level than the bottom part 106 of the outer sack. The suitable o 00 length of the extension part is at least e.g. 1 m, preferably e.g. 1,5 m, which allows the bottom part 114 of the inner sack to be attached at least in 1 m higher level than the bottom part 106 of the outer sack. The person skilled in the art will understand, 5 that the length of the extension part can be more than described above. When the bottom part 114 of the inner sack is attached to the big bag in a higher level than the bottom part 106 of the outer sack, it is obvious that the liquid cannot rise to that level and leak out from the big bag.
5 In one embodiment, the bottom part 114 of the inner sack is also closable/openable. The means for closing/opening the bottom part 114 of the inner sack and/or the bottom part 106 of the outer sack can be any suitable means, such as straps and respective loops arranged on the surface of the inner sack 108 and/or outer sack 102. Preferably, the closing/opening means 110, 112 are arranged to be remotely opened.
10 As depicted in Fig. 1, the big bag according to the present invention is emptied in its open state. In its open state both openable bottom part 106 of the outer sack and openable bottom part 114 of the inner sack are open and the bottom part 114 of the inner sack is released from its attachment to the big bag. As a result, the contents of the big bag can freely fall from the big bag.
15 Fig. 3 depicts a flow chart of an exemplary method according to the present invention for emptying the big bag of the invention. At step 302, the big bag according to the present invention is lifted from a refuse container with lifting means, such as Hiab. Normally, the big bag comprises loops or rings or some other means from which the work machine can be connected in order to lift the bag.
20 At step 304, the big bag is transferred above a container, into which the big bag is intended to be emptied. Typically, the work machine comprising the lifting means also comprises the container into which the big bag is emptied.
At step 306, the bottom part of the inner sack is released so that the extension part
CO
5 can unfold and set below the big bag. Finally, at step 308, the bottom part of the ^ 25 outer sack in opened by using the opening means connected to the outer sack, o £j In another embodiment having an openable/closable inner sack, the method further x comprises a step 310 for opening the bottom part of the inner sack (dotted arrow in
Fig. 3). This step can be performed before or after the outer sack is opened.
o oo lo The scope of the invention is determined by the attached claims together with the o 30 equivalents thereof. The skilled persons will again appreciate the fact that the ex-
C\J
plicitly disclosed embodiments were constructed for illustrative purposes only, and the scope will cover further embodiments, embodiment combinations and equivalents that better suit each particular use case of the invention.
