Abstract

An inking system for flexographic printing plates has a first roller (11) which has a reticulated surface. This is immersed in the ink. A second roller (12) has a soft surface and is engaged by the first roller with variable pressure. A third roller (13) has a smooth surface. The third roller is pref. hard and smooth and is mounted on a support for displacement relative to the other two rollers. The peripheral length of the third roller coincides with the peripheral length of the printing plate roller (3) when carrying the printing plate (5). The density of lines on the reticulated roller is pref. 100 lines/cm. The ink layer thickness is controlled by varying the relative speeds and direction of rotation of the rollers and their contact pressure.
