Abstract

Process for cleaning rotary regenerative heat exchangers for the transmission of heat from a dirty gas stream at high temperature to a clean gas stream at low temperature in which use is made of an installation with a carriage 5 which can be displaced radially over the front surface of the accumulator mass 7 on which there are fixed nozzles 3, 1 facing the front surface of the accumulator masses, by means of which nozzles cleaning and/or washing means can be sprayed over the accumulator mass. The rotor of the regenerative heat exchanger is given an actuation which allows regulation of numbers of service revolutions which can vary and, on the other hand, numbers of cleaning revolutions which are lowered. The variation of the number of revolutions of the rotor is adjustable, also, as a function of its radial position in front of the front surface of the accumulator masses, for which purpose, at the ends of the radial translational path of the carriage, provision has been made for end-of- travel switches for interrupting or modifying the direction of movement of the carriage 5.
