Abstract

The invention relates to the manufacture of particle boards which have very low formaldehyde emissions, and a new agglutinating agent. The essential feature is the use of a urea-formaldehyde adhesive modified with melamine with a formaldehyde to amine groups ratio of between 0.500:1 and 0.575:1 which contains melamine in a quantity of between 1 and 10% by weight in relation to the resin solids. The boards obtained in this way have very low formaldehyde emission (FESYP perforator value of less than 0.01%) as well as satisfactory physical properties.
