Abstract

A poly(meth)acrylate polymer of wt. ave. mol. wt. 1000-100000 (20000-60000) and having pendant hydrolysable alkoxysilane gps. attached to a poly(meth)acrylate backbone by urethane linkages, prepd. by reacting at least 75 equiv.% of the OH gps. of a poly(meth)acrylate having 3-100 pendant OH gps. per molecule with the isocyanate gp. of an isocyanato functional alkoxysilane of formula (I), the poly(meth)acrylate polymer being a copolymer formed from a monomer mixt. of one or more 2-6C hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylates and one or more 1-8C alkyl(meth)acrylates. - OCN-R3-SiXnR4(3-n) (I) - X=lower alkoxy R4=H or lower alkyl R3=divalent (ar)aliphatic or aromatic organic radical, n=1-3.
