The refractory plates are made by (a) using a cap which has small blind holes forming round cavities on its lateral surface; (b) placing this in a set place in a mould which has exterior shape identical to the required plate; (c) filling the mould with a refractory mixt.; (d) introducing part of the mixt. into the round cavities to ensure a union with the cap; (e) extracting the block of refractory material together with the cap from the mould; (f) drying the block by baking; and (g) rectifying and polishing the block to form a plate.
