Abstract

N-phenyl acetyl amino cpds. of formula (I), in which R1 is H, SO2OH or COOH, and NHR2 is a structure derived from an R1S amino cpd. are resolved by enzymatic hydrolysis of the N-phenyl acetyl gp. by bacillus megaterium B-400 in presence of an acid acceptor, at 20-45 deg. C and pH 7.2-9.2 for 1 to several hours. The soln. consisting of an S-amino cpd. and the N-phenyl acetyl R-amino isomer which has not reacted is sepd. by selective pptn. at pH 0.5-6.
