COMPRENDE: A) MEDIR LAS VARIACIONES DIARIAS DE UNA MAGNITUD, QUE INDICA LAS NECESIDADES Y RECURSOS DE AGUA DE UNA PARTE DETERMINADA DEL VEGETAL Y DE TODO SU CONJUNTO; B) DETERMINAR LA AMPLITUD MAXIMA DE LAS VARIACIONES DIARIAS DE LA MAGNITUD DE A), QUE CORRESPONDE A LA NECESIDAD DE RIEGO, AL TENER EN CUENTA LAS INFLUENCIAS CLIMATICAS; C) CONSIDERAR UN UMBRAL O LIMITE DE LA MAGNITUD DE A) QUE DETERMINE LA FALTA DE DEFICIT DE RIEGO; Y D) EFECTUAR EL RIEGO SOBRE EL SUELO DE UNA CANTIDAD DE AGUA DETERMINADA AL SOBREPASARSE EL UMBRAL O LIMITE. LA MAGNITUD SE ELIGE ENTRE EL DIAMETRO DE UNA FRUTA; EL DIAMETRO DEL TRONCO O TALLO, O UNA PARTE DEL VEGETAL AISLADO DE LA FOTOSINTESIS Y EL LIMITE O UMBRAL ES UNA DISMINUCION DE DIAMETRO DE LAS PARTES ANTERIORES.
