Abstract

Method and apparatus for conditioning loose ash discharged from a silo, in order to prevent the material forming excessive amounts of dust during discharge and transfer to a storage or tipping site. The ash conditioner is of an ordinary type, which includes a rotary drum with a system of internal spraying devices for spraying water onto the ash in order to moisten it. The moistened loose ash is relatively free from dust when discharge from the conditioner. The method described includes monitoring the amount of liquid applied to the loose ash as a function of the flow of material from the silo to the conditioner. (Fig. 1).
