Abstract
The methyl ester of 7-((1R,2R,3R) 3-hydroxy 2-((E)-(3R)-3-hydroxy 4-phenoxy 1-butenyl) 5-oxocyclopentyl) 4,5-heptadienoic acid of formula (I) is made by (a) reacting the cpd. of formula (II) with the cpd. of formula (III) under Wittig reaction conditions in organic solvent e.g. benzene, ethyl ether, hexane, dioxane, tetrahydrofurane, etc. or their mixts. at from 0 deg.C up to b.pt. and (b) isolating the desired prod. by chromatography.
