Abstract
5-Amino 2-hydroxy benzoic acid derivs. of formula (I), in which R is an organic or inorganic cation and R2 is NH2 or NHCOCH3, are made by reaction of 5-amino 2-hydroxy benzoic acid, opt. previously acetylated, with hydroxides, e.g. of Na, K, Ca or Al, or organic bases e.g. an amino-acid or amino-sugar. The reaction takes place in aq. medium at reflux temp. and the prod. is separated by salting out or by addn. of a miscible organic solvent to the conc. aq. soln. of the salt.
