Abstract
Improving the workability of fibres comprises treating the fibres with the alkali metal, ammonium or alakanolamine salt of a (meth)acrylic or maleic acid polymer or of a (meth)acrylic- maleic acid copolymer, where the (co)polymer has molecular wt. of 200-10,000. Pref. the fibres are cellulose and the treatment bath includes a surfactant or an alkaline agent.
