Abstract
To prepare vincamine from vincadifformin or tabersonin, the starting compound is subjected to an oxidation with a peracid in the presence of a protecting agent from amongst the group of the copper salts and oxalic acid, care being taken that the temperature does not exceed 5 DEG C and is preferably in the range from -5 DEG C to 0 DEG C. The reaction mixture obtained is subsequently subjected to a rearrangement at a monitored acidic pH while heating and keeping the mixture at a temperature from 30 to 35 DEG C.
