Abstract

The mechanism is intended folabelling bottles (1) with other than circular cross-section. It comprises a turntable (5) carrying a number of circumferentially spaced clamp units each having a rotatable support (7) and bottle top clamp head. Each unit has a movable bottle aligning element (19) complementary to the bottle shape and a pressure member (18) to act on the label applied at a labelling station alongside the turntable. Each element (19) is part of an assebl hich resiliently supports the member (18) and is moved (radially outwards) toads the bottle before and after passing the labelling statio b a cam track (37) follower (38). Duing these bottle aligning a label pressing movements the clamp head is released.
