Abstract
The article is formed by winding all the plies of each wound layer in a uniform direction to prevent the establishment of voids due to crossovers within the layer of angularly offset turns of adjacent plies. Such a filament disposition is attained by effecting simultaneous, reciprocating, relatives, rectilinear and rotational movements between a form (16) on which the article is wound and the filamentary material, each change of direction of rotational movement (60,65) occuring simultaneously with a change of direction of rectilinear movement.
