Abstract

The machine handles a cylindrical bottle (14) e.g. in a metallic chain link sheath and twists the free end of the sheath to secure it on the bottle. An articulated return sprung (21) plate with a foam rubber lining applies bottles to an endless belt (1) mounted on two return gullies (2,3), causing the bottles to roll along the belt. A parallel endless chain (7) is sited near the belt, being fitted with prongs (8) which follow individual bottles along the belt. The link parts in the outer end of the sheath are unthreaded and immobilised by a prong, with trimming effected by a cutter (23). The belt may be supported by a flanged metal sheet and the chain and pulley drive (6) is sited under the plate.
