Abstract

The jointing ring is fabricated from nylon or similar, being incorporated in spiral stairs of a segmental construction. The stairs use a centre post (B) to locate spacer sleeves (C) in one piece with cantilever treads, and rings (A) surround post (B) to interpose succeeding sleeves (C). The ring (A) may have a cylindrical bore (A2) to match post (B) barrel, inc. a central circumferential barrel rib (A1) which interposes adjacent sleeve (C) ends to give a recessed joint effect. Ring barrel zones (Z) on either side of rib (A1) may be part conical to reduce wall thickness towards the axial extremities and to facilitate insertion in sleeves (C).
