Abstract
El presente invento supera las desventajas antes descritas y otras deficiencias de los métodos previos de reducir la viscosidad de las soluciones de polímero de acrilamida con el empleo de un material que reduce la viscosidad. El material reductor de la viscosidad del presente invento es un material de ácido cinámico que puede ser ácido cinámico o sus derivados, tal como alcohol cinamílico, diversas sales, incluyendo las sales de amonio cuaternario y aminas. Este material reductor de la viscosidad se polimeriza con el monómero de acrilamida en una cantidad suficiente de modo que reduzca la viscosidad de la solución de polímero de acrilamida resultante. La cantidad específica del material reductor de la viscosidad dependerá del procentaje de sólidos específicos de la solución de polímero de acrilamida, y de la viscosidad deseada. Cuanto mayor es el porcentaje de sólidos del polímero de acrilamida en solución, mayor es la cantidad de material reductor de la viscosidad que se requiera para alcanzar la viscosidad deseada. Se ha encontrado que el material reductor de la viscosidad como se ha definido antes efectuará una reducción de la viscosidad de las soluciones de polímero de acrilamida en todas las concentraciones. Se ha encontrado que la solución de polímero de acrilamida de viscosidad reducida preparada con los materiales reductores de la viscosidad del presente invento son particularmente útiles como resinas de resistencia en seco para tratar sustratos fibrosos tales como papel.
