Abstract

The press is used to stamp e.g. metal pieces, being driven hydraulically, and utilising an hydraulic circuit which optimises press efficiency. A prim. jack effects the descent of a die onto a punch, a lower plate being used to press the blank workpiece onto the matrix during the descent and the subsequent stamping. A sec. jack effects the upward movement of the plate, thus, acting against the prim. jack, and a motor pump is used to feed hydraulic fluid to jack. The fluid discharged by the sec. jack during die descent is directed to a unit which absorbs the thus released energy for transferal to the pump. The unit may be a reversible volumetric pump (19) which is mechanically connected to the prim. pump motor, and may direct the discharge flow to the jack in parallel with the main feed.
