Abstract

1. Un procedimiento oscilante a presión, adiabático y rápido, para la separación de aire y obtención como producto de un gas oxigenado con al menos 35 moles por ciento de oxígeno, en el que se introduce aire de alimentación a una presión comprendida entre 0,7 y 3,5 kg/cm2.man., en el primer extremo de un lecho de adsorbente que tiene una longitud de extremo a extremo de 0.31 a 1,07 metros y que comprende un tamiz molecular de zeolita cristalina de un tamaño aparente de poro de 5 Angstroms por lo menos y de un tamaño de partícula comprendido entre 0,42 y 0,125 mm, adsorbiéndose selectivamente nitrógeno y descargándose continuamente dicho gas oxigenado producido desde el segundo extremo del lecho durante un periodo de introducción de aire de alimentación, y un periodo de flujo hacia afuera inverso después de dicho periodo de introducción de aire de alimentación durante el cual se desprende desde el primer extremo del lecho gas de purga de oxígeno-desorbato de nitrógeno, todo ello en una sucesión repetitiva cíclica de dos etapas, caracterizado por, al menos, dos y no más de tres lechos de adsorbente dispuestos en una sucesión de flujo alternante con un único distribuidor de productos unido al segundo extremo de tales lechos, cada uno de cuyos lechos tiene un periodo de introducción de aire de alimentación de 0,1 a 6 segundos, un periodo de flujo hacia afuera inverso con gas oxigeno producido que fluye directamente desde otro lecho a dicho segundo extremo como gas de purga, de tal modo que la relación de tiempo de periodo de flujo hacia afuera inverso/periodo de introducción de aire de alimentación es, por lo menos, de 0,5 pero menor de 2, y el tiempo total de ciclo es de 0,2 a 18 segundos, y antes del periodo de introducción del aire de alimentación que sigue, gas oxigenado producido descargado desde un lecho diferente fluye directamente a dicho segundo extremo sin desprendimiento de gas por el primer extremo como un periodo de renovación de la presión del producto que no excedede 1,5 veces el periodo de introducción de aire de alimentación.
