Abstract

Improvements in a process for preparing a polyurethane, comprising reacting under suitable conditions: (A) a polymer of tetrahydrofuran and alkylene oxide whose ring contains two or three carbon atoms; (B) an excess over the stoichiometric amount of an organic polyisocyanate; and © a quantity of a chain elongator which is an aliphatic polyol or polyamione, calculated to give an isocyanate/hydroxyl or amine molar ratio of approximately 0.9-1.1 to 1, the improvement of which includes the use of a polymerized tetrahydrofuran/alkylene oxide containing not more than about 3%, by weight, of oligomeric cyclic ethers.
