Abstract

The platform and loading ramp assembly for lorries etc has a safety device securing the two together. The device incorporates a linkage (14) turning on the platform (10) so as to allow hinging in relation to the latter about a first axis fixed in position in relation to it. The ramp (19) in turn hinges on the linkage about a second axis parallel to the first, and locking devices (22, 23) secure ramp to platform in two alternative positions. In the first the ramp slopes downwards from the platform, and in the second it extends upwards from it to form a tail-board. By turning the linkage about the first axis the locking device is released, allowing movement of the ramp between these two positions.
