Improvements in drum brakes for motor vehicles, of the type comprising a support plate including a plurality of trunnions directed radially outwards and at least one pair of brake shoes slidably received in the trunnions and without axial movement relative to the support plate, characterized in that the support plate further comprises at least one pair of radially outwardly directed flanges defining recesses for receiving respective parts of the brake shoes, enabling resilient means between each of the parts and a corresponding one of the parts.
