Abstract

Procedimiento de tratamiento de un mineral uranífero, con una o unas lejías alcalinas a base de carbonato de sodio, en presencia de un oxidante, particularmente gaseoso, tales como el aire o un gas que contiene oxígeno, tal como aire enriquecido en oxígeno, para producir la disolución del uranio al estado de sales solubles en esta o estas lejías, caracterizado porque el mineral tratado contiene azufre en estado de sulfuros y/o sulfatos y porque se realiza en dos etapas, siendo sometido el mineral, en una primera etapa, a la acción de una solución de preataque, diluida de carbonato de sodio, cuya concentración no excede sensiblemente, o muy poco, a la que es necesaria para la realización de la disolución de la mayor parte del azufre inicialmente contenido en el mineral y transformado el estado de sulfatos, en presencia del oxidante y después, en una segunda etapa, a la acción de una solución de ataque, más concentrada en carbonato de sodio, que permite la extracción y la solubilización en elmedio de la mayor parte del uranio contenido aún en el mineral, no extraído en el medio de preataque de la primera etapa.
