A process for modifying an epoxy resin with a polymerizable additive monomer, characterized by: a) reacting the epoxy resin with a terminating agent, to remove at least some of the epoxide groups from the resin and form a modified resin; and b) reacting the epoxy resin or said modified resin, with a polymerizable additive monomer, in the presence of benzoyl peroxide or its free radical initiation equivalent for this reaction, at a temperature of about 30ºC to 200º c.
