Abstract
A method and its corresponding apparatus for generating underwater acoustic signals to be used in seismic exploration, characterized the method by propelling an annular plate of free movement submerged completely rapidly through the water in a normal direction to its rear surface at a speed sufficient to inducing substantial cavitation adjacent to its rear surface and controlling the forward movement of the plate such that it travels a predetermined distance, and said self-supporting rear surface is not initially opposed to any other adjacent or contiguous surface of a contour or similar area.
